Cinderella & Prince Sebastian

I recently had the chance to see Cinderella at the Arden Theater.  This is not your Disney Cinderella, but I love the twist that the Arden put on this show. It's still the basic Cinderella story about a young girl who loses her mother, her father remarries and Cinderella has new sisters.  The fairy godmother is a bird who helps to guide Cinderella throughout this difficult time in her life.  Cinderella becomes friends with a young boy that she doesn't know is really the prince.  One of my favorite characters was the Prince's friend Wolfgang, as in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.  The King also stole the show with his crazy ideas that made every kid in the audience crack up.

One of my favorite parts of the show was how they used shadows and light to tell the story.  .  This show is for the whole family, when boys hear Cinderella they think it's the typical story, but the show has many positive male role models that boys can relate to.  As usual the Arden theater puts on another amazing performance this holiday season!

The Kennett Amateur Theater Society (KATS) presents its annual pantomime "Dick Whittington & His Cat." The completely original script (and most of the songs) are by Gary Smith. This is KATS 10th pantomime and they are celebrating by revisiting the show that started it all.

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 14 and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 15 and are held at Kennett High School. Tickets for the evening performances are $8 for adults $4 for children 12 years and younger, the Saturday matinee is $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 years and younger. About the show
The earliest written version we know of the story of Dick Whittington dates from 1605! The eponymous hero is a real person: Richard Whittington was made Lord Mayor of London at least three times between 1397 and 1420. In 1402 (aged 52) he married Alice, daughter of Sir Ivo FitzWarin. They had no children. Whittington was very rich (something that required explaining obviously) and when he died in 1423 he left £7,000 to charity.

The annual Panto tradition at People’s Light continues with another magnificent, homegrown, holiday extravaganza!


The Three Musketeers is the seventh Panto in what has become an annual holiday tradition at People’s Light. The outrageous comedy is set in the glittering world of the 17th Century court, complete with plumed hats and swashbuckling sword fights.


TICKET INFORMATION
The play opens on Saturday, November 20th at 7pm and runs through January 9, 2011. Audiences are encouraged to join the artists after each Thursday evening performance to discuss the production.
