Philadelphia School of Circus Arts (PSCA) announces a full lineup of 28 youth classesthat start Tuesday, September 4 through Monday, November 19, 2012.  Exciting changes to fall session include more class times and reduced pricing.  For the newcomers, kids can get a one-time taste of circus arts with Intro to Kids Circus Workshops on Thursday, August 30 and Friday, August 31, 2012 that carry an extremely discounted, $5 enrollment fee. This fall sees the re-launch of the PSCA Youth Troupe. Enthusiastic youth seeking more intense circus training and performance opportunities are invited to audition! Penn Museum’s Summer Wonder series returns this season with a stellar lineup of performances and demonstrations that are perfect for the whole family. This weekly program offers an opportunity to enjoy international music, learn traditional Aztec dance, hear stories about the ancient Maya, and much more!




Following each Summer Wonder presentation, children and their families are invited to explore the Penn Museum’s three floors of galleries featuring artifacts from Egypt, Asia, the Mediterranean, the Near East, North and Central America, and Africa. Throughout the summer, guests can experience MAYA 2012: Lords of Time, a world premiere exhibition exploring the time-ordered universe of the ancient Maya. Guests planning to visit MAYA 2012 must buy special timed tickets for the exhibition.


Both Museum Shops are participating in the Summer Wonder 2012 program. In addition to the Museum Shop’s regular hours, the Pyramid Shop for children opens on Summer Wonder Wednesdays from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. The Shop features games, toys, books, crafts, and jewelry geared to young visitors.

The Center on Central - Your Home for Creative Arts in Paoli - is celebrating its third birthday!

On Wednesday June 13, from 6-9pm, at The Center on Central, 24 West Central Avenue in Paoli, there will be lots to do to help celebrate the occasion.

The Center's own instructors will be offering FREE demo classes in water color, painting, sketching, pottery, lampworking (making glass beads), music making and circus yoga.

There will also be an opportunity for this year's summer campers to silk screen their camp T-shirts for free (non-campers can create a shirt for $10).

The Center on Central's vendor-partners will be helping out as well. There will be an opportunity to create mosaic tiles for the new garden (sponsored by the Chester County Food Bank). Redhound Grille will provide free samples from their restaurant. And of course, what birthday party would be complete without cake - or in this case, cupcakes?!?

The Center on Central is distributing coupons for a FREE specially-themed cupcake by Dia Doce, a recent winner on Food Network's 'Cupcake Wars' show. Coupons are being distributed at The Center on Central, at various merchants and also by request online or on The Center on Central's Facebook page. In addition, all coupons redeemed will turn into entries in drawings for prizes to be given away at the event. Dia Doce will be at the party, so come meet them, enjoy a free cupcake, and maybe buy some other flavors to sample or bring home.

Friday May 18th and  Free Gallery Tour at 11am  Brandywine River Museum will offer free admission on Friday, May 18, as part of the Association of Art Museum Directors' (AAMD) International Art Museum Day. In addition to free admission, the Museum will offer gallery tours at 11 a.m. In recognition of the important role museums play in their communities, Brandywine River Museum will encourage visitors to share their museum experiences during Art Museum Day on a special printed form available at the museum admissions desk and via social media with the hashtag #ArtMuseumDay in a collective public response.   A list of participating AAMD member art museums will be available on the AAMD website (http://www.aamd.org/newsroom/).  While AAMD's Art Museum Day and ICOM's International Museum Day is formally held each year on May 18, some institutions shift their celebrations to adjacent dates.  Brandywine River Museum, located on U.S. Route 1 in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, is open daily (except Christmas Day) from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults; $6 for students, and children ages 6-12; free for children under six and Brandywine Conservancy members.
