Arden Theatre Company celebrates the 20th Anniversary Season of Arden Children’s Theatre with the World-Premiere of SNOW WHITE, written and directed by Greg Banks on the Arden’s Arcadia Stage.

This is a production of SNOW WHITE like you’ve never seen. The classic tale features a beautiful princess, her evil queen, a huntsman, one magic mirror, and the legendary seven dwarfs – all brought to life by TWO ACTORS! Greg Banks, author of the Arden’s acclaimed productions of Robin Hood, Pinocchio and The Jungle Book, now brings this new play with the vibrant creativity and thrilling theatricality you’ve come to expect form Arden Children’s Theatre.

The show opens on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 7pm and runs through Sunday, June 3, 2018.

SNOW WHITE includes weekday matinee performances for students and weekend performances for families. Upper Darby Summer Stage caps off its 42nd season with the smash hit “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr.” - August 8, 9, 10, 11

Upper Darby Summer Stage wraps up a tour de force 42nd season with the smash hit “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Jr!” Due to its popularity, all four “Beauty and the Beast” performances have sold out and a fifth show has been added! It’s not too late for audience members to get tickets for the August 8 performance at 10:30 am. Tickets for the August 8 show are limited.

A tale as old as time, “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Jr.” is based on the Academy award-winning motion picture and celebrated Broadway production. The stage performance features some of the most popular songs ever written by Alan Menken (“Wicked,” “Aladdin,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Pocahontas”) and the late Howard Ashman including “Human Again” and the ultimate crowd favorite “Be Our Guest!”

Tickets are affordably priced at $8-$12 and members of The Upper Darby Performing Arts Center save $1. Tickets may be purchased at udpac.org or by calling the box office at 610.622.1189. Upper Darby Summer Stage will transform into a bucolic French small-town where the studious Belle lives a simplistic life with her father, an eccentric inventor. When Belle’s (Lauren Dietzler of Glenolden) father doesn’t return home from a local fair, she sets out on a search to find him. Belle discovers her father has been held captive in a castle owned by a cursed Beast (Mike Weir of Drexel Hill). Discouraged by what she’s come upon, she trades her freedom for her father’s and finds herself trapped in a magical world with talking and dancing dinnerware. As the town favorite and obnoxious villain, Gaston (Joe Matthews of Havertown) tries to win Belle over, will she be able to help transform the Beast into the prince he once was?

The performance is approximately 60 - 70 minutes with no intermission. Parking is free. The show is recommended for ages four and up with free babysitting in the lobby offered for those who may be too young to sit quietly through the entire show.

A Summer Stage show is a unique experience for all ages. Prior to the children’s performances, young audience members can enjoy pre-show activities and after each show, Upper Darby Summer Stage invites ticket-holders to a meet-and-greet with characters after each show. A Childhood Favorite Debuts at Upper Darby Summer Stage with “Curious George and the Golden Meatball” August 2, 3, and 4

Audiences will be delighted by the antics of the inquisitive monkey George and his owner, the Man in the Yellow Hat, as they hit the stage with new friends, catchy music, and a whacky adventure. This musical is a first for Upper Darby Summer Stage and is guaranteed to be a hit among families with young children. Performances are August 2, 3, and 4 at 10:30 am and on August 3 at 7:30 pm at the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center.

It’s All-You-Can-Eat Meatball Day and George couldn’t be more excited! With the help of the Man in the Yellow Hat (Josh Angell of Havertown), George (Anthony Flamminio of Drexel Hill) helps his friend Chef Pisghetti (Mark LaVecchio of Drexel Hill) cook delicious meatballs. But when Phinnea T. Lightspeed (Caroline Borio of Plymouth Meeting) uses the Meatballs O’Matic to steal the hungry crowd away, a defeated Chef Pisghetti vows to quit cooking. To help him feel better, George enters the chef in the Golden Meatball Competition… in Rome. With a monkey like George and a cast of goofy characters, there’s no telling what fun will ensue as George learns about Rome, meatballs, and the secret ingredient to good cooking – and friendship.

Join a Comical Band of Pirates in their Search for Treasure at UD Summer Stage! July 26, 27, 28

Ahoy mateys! Pirates are coming to the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center! When a band of comical pirates lands at North Beach looking for an expert digger, young Jeremy Jacob climbs aboard. Based on the children’s book written by Melinda Long, “How I Became a Pirate” is a swashbuckling musical adventure for the whole family. Performances are July 26, 27 and 28 at 10:30 am and on July 27 at 7:30 pm at the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center.

Upper Darby Summer Stage will be invaded by pirates and transform into the sunny North Beach. Jeremy Jacob (Aiden Mastronardo of Havertown) is an adventurous young boy who is greeted by Captain Braid Beard (Dylan Rooney of Springfield) on an ordinary day at the beach. Accompanying Braid Beard are his trusty mates Sharktooth the Pirate (Rain Diaz of Clifton Heights) and Max the Pirate (Molly McCarthy of Media) as well as many others. Jeremy enjoys adventuring with them but learns that love and home are treasures you can’t find on any map! Catchy pirate tunes and intricate dance moves will excite all audiences!

Looking for the perfect show to take the kids to this holiday season? You definitely need to check out A Year With Frog and Toad at The Arden Theatre now through January 29th.

You may be familiar with the books written and illustrated by Arnold Lobel. When my children were younger Frog and Toad adventures were a staple in our household. It was exciting to see their adventures come alive on stage at The Arden.

"A Year With Frog and Toad follows the unlikely friendship between cheerful Frog and the rather grumpy Toad through four fun-filled seasons. Their friendship blossoms and grows as they learn many life lessons along the way. Filled with musical numbers that will make you laugh and cry."

There are many lessons in the show. The main lesson is friendship. It is about compromising and working together. Another lesson that the snail teaches is to never give up. The snail was given a job and no matter how long it took him to do the job he was going to get it done!

The great thing about seeing a show at The Arden Theatre is how they include the kids. At the end of the show, there is a Q & A session, kids, and even adults can ask questions about the actors or even see how different props move on stage. After the Q & A session the cast stands in the lobby for pictures and questions.
