Summer Movie Night at Oakbourne Park

Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy “Field of Dreams” under the stars at Oakbourne Park. The movie will begin at about 8:45 PM. Free popcorn and glowsticks will be provided. Participants will be asked to distance from other family groups.

Caln Summer Movie Series

Join Caln Township Parks and Recreation for a movie (Sing) in the park! Feel free to bring snacks, drinks (no alcohol), and something to sit on.

PECO Free First Sundays at the Barnes

On the first Sunday of every month, the Barnes offers free admission and programming to its visitors. Guests can enjoy talks, performances, and hands-on activities throughout the day. Tickets are limited and must be reserved in advance.

Delaware Museum of Natural History Unveils New Squid Display

Giant Squid Kiosk interprets cephalopod on view in Museum's entrance.

The Delaware Museum of Natural History recently unveiled dramatic interpretation for its giant squid model, on display in the Museum's entryway.

The Giant Squid Kiosk, comprised of hands-on display panels including a basketball to represent the approximate size of a giant squid's eye, provides interpretation for the first thing Museum visitors encounter as they walk through the front doors. For several years, the giant squid model has hung from the ceiling of the Museum's entrance, but until now has not had any interpretation to accompany this remarkable display.

The Giant Squid Kiosk is on permanent display at the Museum and in addition to the basketball representation of a giant squid's eye, includes a 3D model of a giant squid club (a series of suckers on the squids tentacles), a flip book of various types of squid and their relative size to humans, and a dissection model illustrating the various parts of a squid. This display serves as a complement to the range of other animals available for visitors to explore at the Delaware Museum of Natural History.

Great Narberth Leprechaun Hunt

The Great Narberth Leprechaun Hunt

March 10, 2012, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm

The fifth annual Great Narberth Leprechaun Hunt is being held in downtown Narberth on Saturday, March 10, 2012, from 1pm - 4pm. This free family event is a scavenger hunt, where kids search all over town to find ten leprechauns. There’s storytelling, Irish music, dance performances, and more. Children start the hunt by getting a game card and an empty pot o’ gold from the Blarney Booth at the corner of Forrest and Haverford Avenues. They get treats as they find the leprechauns, who are hiding in shops all over town. Once they’ve found all ten, they return to the booth for a prize. The hunt lasts until 4pm or while prizes last. This event is presented by the Narberth Business Association and Lankenau Medical Center.

As a special twist to Narberth's first Friday celebration every June, dog lovers from miles around dress their dogs in their funniest, or finest parade costumes and strut the streets of Narberth for fun and prizes in the Narbark Dog Parade. Local celebrity judges award prizes in variety of costume categories, from “most original” to “best child and dog duo”. There will be food, music, prizes, a pet photographer, and pet vendors with free samples. Donations to local animal rescue foundation ARF SEPA will be accepted at the event. Registration is free and will take place at the event, starting at 6 pm.

Brings Amusement Rides, Games, Food and Fun for the Whole Family. The Carnival is hosted by Powers Great American Midways and takes place May 4 – 8, 2011. The Spring Carnival takes place in the mall parking lot Wednesday and Thursday 5 p.m. – 10 p.m., Friday 5 p.m. – 11 p.m., Saturday 12 p.m. – 11 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. - 9 p.m. (Rain will call for closing.)

People of all ages are invited to experience thrills and excitement May 4 – May 8 at the Spring Carnival at Exton Square Mall with Powers Great American Midways, one of America’s highest rated carnival companies with wholesome family entertainment. From family-friendly children’s rides to major adult rides, there will be over 20 amusement rides in addition to good old fashioned food and a variety of carnival games. For the daring, the newest ride will be a challenge – it’s a 109-foot “Vertigo” swing. For the little ones, new family rides include the Crazy Chopper Helicopter, Looney Lagoon Coaster and the Ship’s Ahoy. Also, returning favorites include the ever popular Quadzilla Park and Monster Trucks. Games range from games of skill to family group games, such as the water race, and the new 45-foot long rang basketball game. There will also be carnival cuisine including cotton candy, popcorn, candy apples, fried dough, funnel cakes, sausage and more.

Carnival attendees can purchase a special one day wristband for $25 per person, which is good on all mechanical rides, excluding the Vortex attraction which requires three single tickets in addition to the wristband. A $5 discount coupon will be available at Exton Square Mall’s Customer Service Center. Also, a receipt from an Exton Square Mall retailer will be honored in lieu of this coupon for the $5 discount. Regular tickets are also available. A strip of four single tickets is $5.00, and a sheet of 24 tickets is $20.00. Rides take three – five tickets each, except the Vortex which is eight tickets.
