2019 Fall Activities Guide
The kids are back to school and cooler weather is on the way. There are plenty of hayrides, apple festivals, pumpkin picking, and much more fall events happening in the area this fall.








September 13th through November 2nd

Cherry Crest Adventure Farm is a 15-acre farm located in Lancaster, with 50+ Farm Fun activities, including the Hay Chute Slide and Straw Bale Racer, Jump Pillow, Farm Tour Wagon Ride, Petting Zoo and Farm Experience Center, Corny’s Ball-cade, and everyone's favorite the Corn Maze.




September 21st -October 27th

Visit Pumpkin Garden where your kids will love the pillow bounce, moon bounces the brand new barn bounce and pumpkin jump. Have a blast with the corn cannon. Mine for gems at our all new gem mining experience. Visit with the animals at the Petting Zoo. With train rides, pedal carts, hay bale mazes, and more the kids are sure to have fun! But the fun doesn’t end there! Take a hayride down to the Pumpkin Patch to pick your own pumpkin. Or see if how quickly you can find your way through the 5-acre corn maze.


October 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, and 27

Philadelphia Zoo is adding a little green to your Halloween with the return of Boo at the Zoo!
Enjoy festive fall offerings available for purchase throughout the Zoo: hot apple cider, reusable Boo at the Zoo trick-or-treat bags and much more!
Set out on a Scarecrow Scavenger Hunt and discover your favorite animals in the form of life-size scarecrows!


September 20th -October 31st

For 26 years, the Haunted Hayride at Arasapha Farm has been scaring its visitors with amazing props, digital FX, great actors and extraordinary professional makeup. The Haunted Hayride is a 25 minute, action packed, heart pounding ride through the dark forest of Arasapha Farm.

September 21st - November 3rd

Hayrides, Corn Maze, the Pumpkin Patch and all other attractions return on Sept. 22nd. 
The Secret Agent Corn Maze -- Journey into a world of intrigue and espionage.  From the Cold War to James Bond, the world's nations play the dangerous game of misdirection and double agents.  Maze design includes iconic imagery from spy movies.




September 7th - October 27th

Every Weekend in the Fall. Activities including 
    Face paint, Scarecrow building (we provide clothes and hay, you assemble and can take home, Sand art, KidKorral, and Hayrides  




October 17-19

Watch local artists carve huge pumpkins (5-9PM). See candle-lit carved pumpkins Fri.-Sat (5-9PM). All Three nights of family fun, food, live music and hayrides!

October 25th-27th

Thomas, Mavis, and the Strasburg Spooktacular offers a unique opportunity for young engineers and their families to take a Halloween-decorated, 20-minute ride with everyone’s favorite blue #1 engine, Thomas the Tank Engine™ and to meet Sir Topham Hatt™, the Controller of the Railway!





October 23rd at 7pm

Enjoy the costumes, the kids, and the fun starting at 7pm for the West Chester Halloween Parade in downtown West Chester. Parade gathers on Market Street between Church & Darlington and continues down Market and up Gay Street.




September 9th - October 27th


Every September, Peddler’s Village hosts a famous scarecrow display that brings visitors from around the world. For seven fun-filled weeks, two hundred scarecrows grace the winding pathways of the sweeping, autumn-tinted Village property. Some are inspired by famous characters, some are humorous, some are meant to be scary – but all of them are carefully handmade and contributed by Philly-area residents and organizations.

Village visitors are invited to vote on their favorite scarecrows during the display, which begins on September 9. Voting continues through October 7, and the scarecrows will be on view through October 27. The creators of the winning scarecrows receive prizes.





October 12th -October 27th
11:30-4pm

Take a hayride along the Brandywine to experience the beautiful fall foliage in the Powder Yard. Guests can create fall-themed crafts, and see a gunpowder explosion, roll mill in action, and working nineteenth-century machines. Included with admission and free for members.




October 28th 5-8pm

Join us for Halloween Happenings at the Herr’s Snack Factory. This is a FREE event, full of family fun. *Hayrides will be contingent on weather. 


 October 26th

1:00pm to 4:00pm

Halloween kicks off with this popular annual scavenger hunt. Children of all ages are invited to join in this free event, where kids search downtown Narberth high and low for thirteen of the witchiest witches around. They collect treats along the way, and then return to the start to collect a Halloween prize.



Weekends starting Oct 19,th -Nov 3rd

Happy Hauntings at Dutch Wonderland is a fun, fall family event featuring themed rides, special entertainment, tasty treats, and the Trick-or-Treat Trail: a safe, interactive trick-or-treating experience included in your admission. It's three weekends of spook-tacular fun!




October 17th- October 19th

5:00pm to 7:00pm

Celebrate Halloween Brandywine Zoo-style with this merry, not scary, event. Kids can trick-or-treat through the zoo as it gets dark in their Halloween costumes!





September 20 - November 3

Come in costume and celebrate silly, not-too-spooky fun at The Count’s Halloween Spooktacular® at Sesame Place®, select dates from September 20 through November 3. Guests can swing, fly and cruise on Count von Count-themed mechanical rides, enjoy special Halloween-themed shows, trick-or-treat around the park, explore our all ALL-NEW maze,“Where’s Slimey?”, participate in a scavenger hunt, decorate pumpkins, decorating and see everyone’s favorite furry friends dressed up in costume!

An annual trip to Pumpkinland has been a family tradition for generations of Delaware Valley Residents. During the months of September and October, Pumpkinland takes center stage at Linvilla Orchards. Larger than life figures and scarecrows illustrate the legends and lore of the harvest season, local history and some of the many stories of pumpkins and apples.

The kids are back to school and cooler weather is on the way. There are plenty of hayrides, apple festivals, pumpkin picking, and much more fall events happening in the area this fall.


October 7th

The 18th century comes alive during this annual event, with the sights, sounds, and smells of colonial America. This event features demonstrations of various historic skills and trades, including blacksmithing, open-hearth cooking, Native American skills, and much more. Listen to music by the Colonial Revelers, learn colonial dancing, and have your silhouette made. Visitors can shop in the festival’s Colonial Market for handmade goods, including cornmeal ground in the site’s 1704 grist mill. Young visitors will especially enjoy painting a pumpkin, taking a hay ride, and seeing interactive performances by Tuckers’ Tales Puppet Theatre! The Fall Harvest Festival is a full day of fun for all ages.

With stilt-walker-extraordinaire Samantha Hyman, face painting, balloon animals, and haunted tree houses there’s something for everyone.

See, touch, and say cheese for a festive fall photo with our pumpkins! Be sure not to miss our largest pumpkin on display, weighing in at more than 800 pounds in the Idea Garden's vegetable garden.

The OPC Apple Festival is the perfect fall day trip destination! This free event for all ages will feature live entertainment, 80+ crafters, artisans, and vendors, demonstrations, delicious food (including food trucks and dozens of homemade apple pies!), kettle-cooked apple butter made on premises, old-fashioned pressed cider, silent auction, barrel train rides and lots of other fun activities for kids!

Yuletide at Winterthur Museum

November 17, 2012–January 6, 2013

Experience traditions of the past and dazzling entertaining displays in this special wintertime tour. Yuletide at Winterthur will delight you with visions of holidays of old and inspire you to create your own spectacular celebrations. Be transported to a 19th-century market square to see how preparations for winter festivities began, and in celebration of the exhibition Uncorked! Wine, Objects & Tradition, see the scrumptious evolution of the holiday meal from the colonial period to the early national period. Enjoy Winterthur’s unique version of a winter wonderland as you meander through a re-created woodland path offering vistas of the Winterthur Garden enveloped in snow.

Christmas at Hagley
November 23rd   through January 6th

Hagley’s Workers’ Hill will be buzzing with fun for visitors. Like the nineteenth-century families who lived on Workers’ Hill, visitors can enjoy making Victorian Christmas paper decorations and ornaments, savor scrumptious holiday cookies, admire the “Dear Old Tree”, and experience Christmas family traditions. These activities are offered 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Programs are included in the cost of admission.

The museum celebrates the season with fabulous holiday displays including an extensive O-gauge model railroad, an elaborate Victorian dollhouse, and thousands of whimsical "critter"ornaments on holiday trees.


Adventure Aquarium’s Christmas Celebration
November 23rd – January 1st

Adventure Aquarium will be transformed into a holiday wonderland under the sea, featuring
larger-than-life decorations, twinkling lights, glowing trees, gently falling snow and of course, appearances from the Aquarium’s beloved Scuba Santa (and his elf helpers!), who will delight children all ages as he dives the 760,000-gallon Ocean Realm exhibit among rare sharks, gigantic sea turtles, hundreds of schooling fish, massive stingrays and more.


Christmas Around the Farm & Christmas Open House at Linvilla
December 1st -24th

 The Farm is decorated for Christmas. See our Christmasland display and visit with
the animals in their winter coats. The Farm Market features wreaths, freshly cut trees, greens & holly, decorations, fruit and gift baskets, Christmas gifts, hot mulled cider & children's crafts.

 Choo Choo Barn’s Holiday Display
Choo Choo Barn is celebrating the season with an enhanced holiday display from November 23 through December 31, 2012. Look for 51 hidden Santas and watch as Santa’s sleigh flies above the gigantic model train display. Enjoy the holiday decorations throughout the display including holiday lights and the snow-covered landscape. Plus, take a close look at the zoo animals in Traintown to see how they’re getting into the holiday spirit! Choo Choo Barn is open daily from 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (Closed Christmas Day). 


Night Before Christmas TrainNovember 30, December 7 and 14
This very unique train recreates the excitement and anticipation of Christmas Eve. A reader dressed in a Victorian nightshirt and cap will read Clement Clarke Moore's classic poem, The Night Before Christmas, as passengers enjoy cookies and milk as the train rolls along. After the train ride, children are also treated to storybook readings of holiday classics aboard our Caboose (stationary) and visitors of all ages can enjoy a ride aboard the Tinsel Trolley, a self-propelled motor car.

Children and families will delight in decorating their own keepsake gingerbread houses with all the trimmings. The afternoon events include complimentary holiday sweets, a make-your-own hot chocolate station, champagne bar for adults, caroling and a visit from Santa. Bring the whole family, and spend Saturday morning with Santa on December 1, 2012, from 9 to 11 am at the Narberth Presbyterian Church Gymnasium. There'll be music, dancing, coloring and stories for the kids, donut holes and fruit to nibble on, and beverages (including coffee for the grown-ups). Best of all, you don't need to go to the mall in order to get some one-on-one time with the big guy. All children will have the chance to sit on Santa's lap and tell him what they want for Christmas. Parents and grandparents are encouraged to bring a camera and take pictures. Tickets are $5 per person or $20 for the entire family and can be purchased online at narberthwomensclub.org.

Scuba Santa at the Adventure Aquarium
Come and experience the excitement of Scuba Santa as he makes his grand appearance in the Adventure Aquarium Rotunda. And he wouldn't be Santa without bringing with him some surprise Christmas Magic! historic station. There are plenty of photo opportunities on Santa's lap inside

Christmas at Longwood GardensDecember 22 - January 6

Half a million outdoor lights and holiday magic await you during Longwood's
incomparable Christmas display. Enjoy dazzling trees and seasonal concerts. The
Music Room hosts a special, themed holiday display. Kids of all ages will
delight in a miniature Garden Railway decked out for the holidays. Thousands of
poinsettias accented with amaryllis, artemesia, begonias, cyclamen, hybrid
lilies, kalanchoes, paperwhites, red-berried plants and many other flowers
flourish inside acres of heated glass conservatories. Living wreaths, swags and
live floral trees adorn rooms throughout the Conservatory. Included in Gardens admission.

Favorite scenes from The Nutcracker, beautifully performed by the renowned Pennsylvania Ballet, a magical sleigh ride through the snow covered Pennsylvania countryside, a world-class 1940s swing-style dance of Jingle Bell Rock featuring Broadway stars, the majestic sounds of a 64-piece orchestra, the harmony of the Commonwealth Youth Choir’s Keystone State Boy choir and Pennsylvania Girlchoir, and more, will delight people of all ages.

The free Comcast Holiday Spectacular has quickly become a “must see” Philadelphia holiday tradition. Since its debut in 2008, more than a half million people have seen the 15-minute show. Full of stunning original holiday imagery and music and created by using cutting-edge technology, it appears on the 83’ x 25’ Comcast Experience video wall in the Comcast Center lobby, which is the world’s largest four-millimeter LED screen with incredible resolution that’s five times that of an HDTV.
