This is a great activity to do over Presidents Day weekend. If you don’t mind a quick drive to the city, this activity will take one to two hours.

As Philadelphia’s newest science museum, it showcases one of the most diverse living arthropod collections in the United States. With two floors of new museum exhibits, a 7,000 square foot tropical butterfly pavilion, and Next Generation aligned educational programming, they offer a unique and interactive experience for all to enjoy.

The Philadelphia Zoo announces Big Time: Life in an Endangerous Age, a brand-new immersive multi-sensory experience featuring 24-life-size, animatronic dinosaurs that will transport guests back to when these giants roamed the Earth. Opening to the public on March 29, 2021, Big Time highlights some of history’s most powerful events, volcanic eruptions, and asteroid strikes, that changed the atmosphere, the level of the seas, the temperature of the earth, even the amount of sunlight on the planet. As a result of these catastrophes, some creatures had the time to adapt, and others did not, dying off forever. Through evocative landscapes, realistic settings, immersive sounds, and life-like giants, Big Time takes guests through the Age of Dinosaurs through to present day, showing what life was like and the challenges faced when these amazons walked the planet.

Big Time will open to members Thursday, March 25th to Sunday, March 28th. Big Time opens to the general public on Monday, March 29th, through September 30th.

Tickets and reservations are available for Big Time starting on February 17th at Noon. All reservations should be made online at www.PhiladelphiaZoo.org. Attendance will be capped to ensure a wonderful, safe experience, don’t wait to reserve your visit now. Zoo Admission tickets are for a specific date and time. Entrance times are every half hour. Reserve BIG TIME tickets with your admission to secure your spot. Tickets are the cost of General Zoo Admission $24 for ages 12+ and $19 for ages 2-11, children under 2 are free, plus entrance for Big Time $6 (adults and children ages 2+). Members enjoy free admission to the Zoo with advance reservations and save on BIG TIME tickets!

Big Time will be open from 9:30am to 5:00 pm daily. The last entrance time to the exhibit is 4:00pm. Stay tuned for special evening dates coming closer to the opening date.

All aboard! Thomas the Tank Engine invites little engineers to join him and his best friend Percy for a day of big adventures and even bigger memories at Day Out with Thomas: Big Adventures Tour 2018. Children everywhere are invited to spend the day with their friend Thomas when the #1 Engine and Percy pull into Strasburg Rail Road beginning June 16 2018. Day Out with Thomas: Big Adventures Tour 2018 is presented by Mattel.

This fun-filled event offers children and their families the opportunity to take a ride with Thomas the Tank Engine and Percy, stars of the popular Thomas & Friends™ series. In addition, they will meet Sir Topham Hatt, Controller of the Railway and enjoy a day of Thomas-themed activities including crafts, photo ops, and much more. The tour, now in its 23^rd year, will make 42 stops across the U.S. and Canada and is expected to welcome nearly one million passengers in 2018.

"The Hunchback of Notre Dame" is coming to UD Summer Stage

This production is the Philadelphia premiere and is a spectacle on a grand scale.

Something big is coming to the Philadelphia region. Upper Darby Summer Stage presents the Philadelphia regional premiere of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” on July 28 & 29, August 4 & 5 at 7:30 pm and July 29 and August 5 at 1:30 pm.Performances take place at Upper Darby Performing Arts Center.

Based on Victor Hugo’s powerful novel and adapted from the Disney film, “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” is nothing less than an epic production. It is a dramatic tale of complex relationships, featuring a gorgeous, spine-tingling score created by musical legends Allen Menken and Steven Schwartz. This musical production is the next “Les Miserables”, matching the intensity of the music and challenging complexities of each character.

Tickets for this production are affordable ranging from $13 to $17, enabling anyone to experience a professional, high standard production. Tickets may be purchased at udpac.org or by calling the box office at 610.622.1189.

The Upper Darby Performing Arts Center is located at 601 N. Lansdowne Avenue, minutes from the Main Line and Center City. The performance is approximately 2.5 hours, including intermission. Parking is free. The production is appropriate for children 12 and up.

Upper Darby Summer Stage has been selected as the first theatre in the Philadelphia region to tackle this emotional story, exploring the good and evil tendencies inside of everyone. Adding to the spectacle is an onstage choir. The Mainstage production is not a children’s theater show and is not performed by children.

Composer Allen Menken spoke about the production in an interview. “It’s much more than simply a Disney animated musical brought to the stage,” said Menken. “It’s a pretty serious musical. It represents a huge coming together of talent. It’s anything but a musical comedy. It’s a musical drama.”
