Fun Things To Do in Chester County This Weekend For Families and Kids March 5-7

A list of best things to do in Chester County this weekend, March 5th - 7th



What to do this weekend with your family? Here is a list of things you can enjoy with your family this weekend. Please call ahead before leaving your house to ensure the venue is still hosting the event. Due to the new COVID guidelines, many venues have had to cut back on the number of visitors they can allow.

Virtual Event

Children ages 4-7, join us for a fun and interactive musical class. We will enjoy classical music,  a game, and a craft where you will create your own fairy tale character. 

We will provide the supplies for the craft. You will receive an email with instructions on picking up your craft kit at Tredyffrin Public Library.



On the first Sunday of every month, the Barnes offers free admission and programming to its visitors. Guests can enjoy talks, performances, and hands-on activities throughout the day. Tickets are limited and must be reserved in advance.




At 11 a.m. on Facebook Live 
Exercise your creative side as you sketch imaginative animals with award-winning artist and children’s book writer and illustrator Gene Barretta

At 12 noon on Facebook Live 
Be inspired by TAHIRA as she performs songs and stories focused on what it means to be free – and how we are all connected in our humanity. TAHIRA is a master storyteller whose high-energy performances delight listeners of all ages. She had the prestigious honor of representing the National Association of Black Storytellers, Inc. at the internationally acclaimed festival, PANAFEST, in Ghana, West Africa.




Beginning on Friday, Feb. 12, and running through December 2021, Parking Lot Theaters will be hosting popular movies at Exton Square Mall, Exton. In addition to viewing these movies from the comfort of your car, customers can order and enjoy many movie theater amenities such as popcorn, candy, and some hot food choices.



Guests to the Philadelphia Museum of Art can pay what they wish for admission every Friday evening and the first Sunday of the month. Reservations are required.



This ALL-NEW event series will offer guests brand new, limited capacity special events where they can celebrate everyone’s favorite red monster during Elmo’s Rockin’ Birthday Bash, treat little loves to a fun day during the My Fuzzy Valentine’s Celebration, let the good times roll during our FIRST-EVER family-friendly Mardi Gras Celebration, grab cozy jammies to celebrate our favorite feathered friend’s birthday at Big Bird’s Pajama Party! Reservation is required (admission is included for all tiers of 2021 Season Pass Members.) Guests will be able to choose from one of two limited-capacity time slots: 10am – 1pm or 2pm – 5pm.


Virtual Event

Music with Miss Jill is an interactive music program for toddlers through Kindergarten. Weekly activities consist of songs, fingerplays, puppets, props, and musical games. Each week is theme-oriented.
Please register with an email address attached to a Zoom account. Zoom invitations will be sent out 24 hours in advance.

PROMOTES SERVICE AND UNDERSTANDING

DETAILS:    Quilting Service Project and Craft Activities, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.


In the spirit of Dr. King, visitors can participate in a quilting and sewing service project that benefits the local Philadelphia nonprofit, Women Against Abuse shelter.  Participants will sew quilts, baby blankets and pillows for those in need while learning how quilting has brought communities together throughout history.  Throughout the day children also will have the opportunity to make special crafts, including “Hands Across the World” chains and “I Have a Dream” mobiles.

“Two of a Kind” Sing-Along, 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Visitors can take part in a sing-along concert with “Two of a Kind,” an award-winning, nationally touring, husband-wife duo who specialize in interactive musical programs for children.  The performance will focus on themes related to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through songs, sign-language, movement, and stories, all with an emphasis on interaction and participation.

Dramatic Reading of “I Have a Dream” Speech, 12:00 p.m.
Students from local colleges and local actors will read aloud Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s famous "I Have a Dream" speech at 12:00 p.m.

International Opera Theater presents The Heart of a Hero, 3:00 p.m.
A dramatic combination of gospel, opera, movement, poetry and spirituals,
International Opera Theater’s new work The Heart of a Hero tells the little known stories of minority Congressional Medal of Honor recipients: First Lieutenant John R. Fox of the 92nd Infantry Division, Private First Class David M. Gonzales of the 32nd Infantry Division and Combat Medic James K. Okubo of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team.  The Heart of a Hero features the International Opera Theater Multicultural Children's Choir, which will sing along side featured tenor Sergeant First Class Colin Eaton, a soloist with the United States Army Chorus.

Fighting for Democracy exhibition, all day 
Visitors to the Center on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day also will have the final opportunity to experienceFighting for Democracy: Who is the “We” in “We the People”? on the last day of its three-month run.  This groundbreaking exhibition, which pairs a must-see, multimedia exhibition from the Japanese American National Museum with an original theatrical production, traces the real-life experiences of a diverse group of seven Americans who bravely fought for equality, freedom and justice during the World War II era and helped paved the way for the Civil Rights movement and Dr. King’s work.
