Fun Things To Do In Chester County This Weekend For Families And Kids January 5th, 6th and 7th

A list of the best things to do in Chester County this weekend
January 5th, 6th and 7th

Check out some of these family friendly events happening this weekend in Chester County.

Performing Arts Center

A hit on Broadway, A Year with Frog and Toad was nominated for three Tony Awards – including Best Musical. Based on Arnold Lobel's well-loved books and featuring a hummable score by Robert and Willie Reale, this whimsical show follows two great friends – the cheerful, popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad – through four fun-filled seasons.

Waking from hibernation in the Spring, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding and learn life lessons along the way. The two best friends celebrate and rejoice in the differences that make them unique and special. Part vaudeville, part make-believe... all charm, A Year with Frog and Toad tells the story of a friendship that endures throughout the seasons.

The jazzy, upbeat score of A Year with Frog and Toad bubbles with melody and wit, making it an inventive, exuberant, and enchanting musical, perfect for introducing theatre to youngsters while keeping adults entertained, as well.

Brandywine Railroad at Brandywine River Museum

A holiday favorite since 1972, the Brandywine Railroad features trains running on 2,000 feet of track and contains more than 1,000 pieces, including locomotives, passenger and freight trains, and trolleys that pass through a small village, a farm, factories, a drive-in movie theater, and even a carnival.

A dazzling array of both toy and scale model trains can be seen chugging through the varied scenery, including those made by Lionel, Williams, Atlas, Mike’s Train House, K-line and others. Interactive components are also incorporated into the display to allow for further engagement.

As we ring in the new year, we’re pausing to reflect on the moments that mattered most in 2023! We invite you and your family to revisit the classics in our collection and to create new masterpieces and memories at our artmaking stations. Catch special performances by Latin fusion band Guachinangos throughout the afternoon and be sure to see Marie Laurencin: Sapphic Paris before it closes on January 21. Access to the collection and special exhibition is free, but registration is required.

On view through our Chrysanthemum Festival and A Longwood Christmas season, a perfectly fanciful blend of horticulture, engineering, and lighthearted fun awaits guests of all ages with this very special display located outdoors near the Terrace Restaurant.

LumiNature returns for another season of breathtaking sights, sounds, and surprises! See more than a million twinkling lights across 14 illuminated zones, and experience a magical journey celebrating the wonder of wildlife and the beauty of our planet at our biggest and brightest holiday light show yet.

Imagination Street a new play space that kids and parents can enjoy together. For kids (ages 0–9), it is a meaningful, hands-on play experience in nine, interactive, themed playhouses that form a “city” to explore. For parents, there’s a cafe-style lounge to gather, drink coffee, or get some work done. Because the space is an open concept, parents are in close proximity of their children the entire time. They offer open play sessions, private parties, events, and more.

This holiday season, experience a radiance of retro, a bevy of bright, and numerous nostalgic moments with us. Marvel at playful trees draped in throwback baubles to shimmering tinsel to childhood-favorite toys. Stroll through a fab, festive holiday party scene decked out in mid-century magic. Reminisce amid a vintage Christmas street scene, make new merry memories amid dazzling, vibrant light displays—including some super-sized surprises—and revel in the retro fun at every turn.

Burn off some energy while having some fun while skating with the family.

Guests to the Philadelphia Museum of Art can pay what they wish for admission every Friday evening and the first Sunday of the month. Reservations are required.

Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park have adventures behind every corner. They are the ultimate indoor playground for your entire family. Take your kids’ birthday party to the next level or spend a day of fun with the family, and you’ll see why we’re more than just a trampoline park.
