American Helicopter Museum Hosts Science Expo for Young Women

The American Helicopter Museum and Education Center (AHMEC) will host the 1st Annual AHMEC Girls’ Science Expo on Saturday, March 28, from 2 to 5 pm. The museum, located at 1220 American Boulevard, West Chester, will present the event in conjunction with its Women in Aerospace and Technology Program (WATP).

The Expo offers participants in grades 3 through 12 an opportunity to present their science projects to the public. Registration for 150 slots, due by March 14, is free and open to young women in three categories: Elementary (grades 3 to 5), Middle School (grades 6 to 8) and High School (grades 9 to 12).

All participants will receive a certificate of participation, and a participation letter will be sent to their respective schools. An awards ceremony will occur at 4:30 pm during which the first, second and third place winners from each age group as selected by visitors attending the Expo will receive ribbons.

Activities for non-participants will include hands-on investigations in each of the seven groups of WATP: physics of flight, space, environment, energy, chemistry, mechanical engineering and robotics, as well as other fun activities. Visitors will also have full access to AHMEC and its exciting exhibits.

Admission is $7.00 per person. Email Zwilling at e.zwilling@americanhelicopter.museum for a registration form. Contact AHMEC at 610-436-9600 for more information.
