$5 Special Admission to National Constitution Center Wednesday for Veterans Day

CELEBRATE VETERANS DAY AT THE NATIONAL CONSTITUTION CENTER 


WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2015 


Admission to the Center will be $5

 On Wednesday, November 11, 2015 the National Constitution Center will celebrate Veterans Day with discounted admission, $5 courtesy of Macy’s. Admission to the museum is free for veterans and active military personal. Visitors can pay tribute to the men and women who have fought for our country, participate in a flag etiquette workshop, and create a postcard to send to a deserving veteran.

The National Constitution Center’s Veterans Day celebration will begin with a flag raising ceremony on the front lawn of the National Constitution Center, led by the Sons of the American Revolution, a nonprofit that seeks to maintain the values of American institutions and American freedom. Following the ceremony, guests will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities. Please see the full timeline of events below.  

Veterans Day Events

Flag Raising Ceremony

9:15 a.m. 

Front Lawn

The day begins with a special Flag Raising Ceremony overlooking Independence Mall, led by the Sons of the American Revolution.

Wreath Laying Ceremony

11 a.m.

Grand Hall Overlook 

In respect to our nation’s servicemen and women, the Center will hold a moment of silence and a wreath laying ceremony on the Grand Hall Overlook, featuring the Sons of the American Revolution Color Guard. Participants will include veterans on staff at the National Constitution Center. 

Veterans Chats

10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m.

Kirby Auditorium 

Veterans will their share stories with visitors and answer questions about their service. 


Flag Etiquette Workshop

10:30 a.m., 2 p.m. 

Grand Hall Lobby 

At this interactive workshop, visitors will learn the rules of caring for our national symbol, the American flag. 

Thank-a-Vet Postcards

9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

Grand Hall Lobby 

Visitors can take a moment to write letters of gratitude to the women and men who have served in the country’s Armed Forces. Postcards can also be accessed online and downloaded by virtual visitors.

Community Partner Tables

9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

Grand Hall Lobby 

Visitors can gather information about veteran service organizations including the Veterans Multi Service and Education Center, Ms. Harcum Share the Love Foundation, and Thank-A-Vet.

Arts and Crafts Tables 

9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Grand Hall Lobby 

Families can make patriotic crafts, including American flags, star wreaths, and poppy pins.
